GRAYSON VALE PACKS A HUGE PUNCH.’

Screenplay Review, Raindance Film Festival

ABOUT

A team of filmmakers from Brighton are seeking to raise £15,000 via Kickstarter to produce a short film called Grayson Vale which explores bereavement, mental illness and power of kindness between strangers.

  • One night amid a severe bout of depression, a lawyer named Grayson Vale arrives at a multi-storey car park where he crosses paths with Simone.  This chance encounter jolts Grayson into seeing the world with a fresh pair of eyes and begins to fall inexorably under her spell.

  • Grayson’s story is sadly an increasingly common one for men today. Mind - a British mental health charity - recently published a report which casts a concerning light on the current state of men’s mental health. The report entitled ‘Get It Off Your Chest’ found that two in five men in the UK admitted to regularly feeling worried or low and the number experiencing suicidal thoughts have doubled over the past ten years. According to the same research, one in seven men who regularly suffer with their mental health are put off seeking support due to peer and societal stigma. Grayson Vale will cast a spotlight on these issues and kindle a new and urgent conversation.
